Opening The Little Seed on the West Coast, they managed to create a safe haven and a one-stop shop for parents looking to make the same smart choices that they were. And, as if that weren’t enough, they recently partnered with Target to create an organic The Little Seed collection just for them. Making their vibrant and fashionable line accessible to families everywhere. We caught up with Paige and Soleil (who she admitted, is a little obsessed with the hooded towel – so are we!) between being moms to Jackson, 3 and Poet, 4 & Jagger 2 (respectively), running The Little Seed and the sheer excitement of their partnership with Target to find out just what makes them tick.

We sized up Paige and Soleil in our SIZED UP interview:

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Paige: Mary Tyler Moore.
Soleil: I wanted to be an astronaut, a performer and an artist. I always loved doing a bit of everything!

What are your favorite kids’ shops/brands aside from The Little Seed?
Paige: Organic PJ’s from Hannah Anderson, Target, Crewcuts.
Soleil: I love Target and I have to say, my kids do live in The Little Seed. Once in a while I will get a tiny piece of couture for the girls. I am obsessed with Marc Jacobs for me so I splurged on a Little Marc Jacobs birthday dress.

What do you wish you had more time for?
Paige: Traveling back to my hometown, Charleston, S.C.
Soleil: I don’t even know what time is anymore!

When your children grow up, what do you hope they remember?
Paige: All of the loving and squeezing that his daddy and I give him. We kiss him and tell him that we love him a million times a day!
Soleil: I’d love for them to feel like I inspired them to follow their dreams and that I support them in making their dreams come true. And to be great people, to be kind, loving and to care for others.

What is your key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent?
Paige: Realizing which one is the priority and accepting that your best is good enough for both.
Soleil: I think realizing that we are all human, nothing will always be perfect. That it is ok to be a messy parent!

What is your favorite thing to do alone?
Paige: Sit in front of the TV eating chocolate ice cream and watch a chick flick. Something I never get to do!
Soleil: To be creative. I love designing. Oh, and I love to read, when I can actually spend time reading a book.

Your favorite thing to do with your family?
Paige: Roadtrip to our home in Sonoma.
Soleil: Spending time together watching them put on performances. Watching them sing, dance and put on shows.

3 items you cannot live without…
Paige: My beautiful family, my wedding band and my 20 year old Filofax (can you believe that I use that dinosaur???)
Soleil: My family, my sense of humor to be able to laugh at anything, and I guess my iPhone: I have a love/hate relationship with social media!

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a mom. I wanted to be so many things that I think that’s why I became an actress: it allows me to be everything. I didn’t want to do the same thing every day. I took an acting class and loved it. I was always inspired by films.

What are your favorite kids’ shops/brands?
I love Hayneedle’s princess and pirate beds, both of which would go over very well at our house, and the art project table. I love their art table, I have one of those. Art is a really big thing in our house. I know David Netto makes some great things, Maclaren makes some great things and Bugaboo makes great things. I also tend to go for things that are eco-friendly. There is a great store in Los Angeles called Green for Baby. They do great organic mattresses. There is one called Nook. They are so comfortable that I want one for myself.

What do you wish you had more time for?
Well I make time and space by recycling all of the children’s stuff. If I meet someone in a café who is having a baby I’ll ask them if I can send them things. It’s just easier. Then they don’t have to go and buy it. I’m constantly giving things that I can’t use and it’s a great way to clean out your house.

What is the key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent?
Gossip Girl is big and it’s doing really well and I’m thankful. But you know I work 1 to 4 days a week and have 3 to 4 months off a year, so I am very fortunate. I try to prioritize on the days that I’m not working that I’m with my kids. It takes juggling a bit, but all things do. In this day and age, every mom is different and every relationship with their children is different. It depends on how involved you want to be, and I really want to be involved. I waited a long time to have kids and I’ve had 20 years of great work thankfully, and I hope to continue to work. I love my job and what I do. My mother worked and she was very inspiring and was also very present. I think you can do both, but there is obviously more pressure on the woman than on the man because the man goes to work but he doesn’t have to be pregnant, or give birth or breast feed. A lot of times the woman is more hands on in organizing the child’s day, what they’re wearing, etc..

What are your favorite things to do with your kids?
I like to just cuddle with them. We watch Super Friends and I go in their playroom and I just listen to what they’re doing and what they want for dinner. I let them guide a lot. It’s really fun because I realize that everything is new to them everyday. I just try to keep it fun and exciting for them as they’re learning. I like to be more involved in their world than have them have to be on my schedule.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?
I like to go for a massage or a yoga class. But to relax I like to go for a bike ride with the kids. Or picnics in the park. We make art projects with the things we find in the park, or go to the playground.

What are three things that you can’t live without?
Baby wipes for sure. (Laughing.) I clean everything with baby wipes. Even when I am at work I wish I had baby wipes just to wash my hands. But really, that and a good night’s sleep and good healthy foods so I can just keep up with everything.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an actress and a singer all my life. I started professionally when I was about 12. It’s all I ever wanted to do. My Daddy used to say, “honey, figure out something you love to do than figure out a way to get paid for it.” He paid me five dollars one year to sing at my Grandmother’s birthday party one year and I said, “I’m a professional! I’ve been paid.”

What are your favorite kids’ shops/brands?
My children are older now, they don’t want things, they want cars. (Laughing.) My daughter is turning 17 but when she was younger she probably would have adored the princess bed they were showing here. I also love the art table with the paper. Anything that heightens children’s creativity. I think we have got to get our children away from computer screens and television screens and ipods. I am so grateful I had the childhood I did. Outside! Playing. But the world has changed so much and you can’t even let your children go outside in many places. I think it is awful. I think it is hurting us as a culture. We’re meant to relate to one another, not to a piece of machinery.

Your kids are nearly grown up now, what do you hope that they remember?
I hope they remember they had more fun in their childhood than they could possibly express. That they learned that God is their best friend and long after their mother and father are gone, he’ll be with them and that they are responsible for a great deal—not entitled to anything.

What is your key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent?
Well, it’s always something new. It’s never boring. I have always put them first and they knew it. As busy as I might have appeared to be, they knew in their hearts that nothing was more important than they were in my life. And I think kids need to know that. They don’t mind you being busy, they like it as a matter of fact. They don’t want you sitting at home eating bonbons, getting loaded every day ‘cuz you have nothing to do. That is not a good example for your kids. So, they both want careers in this industry because they’ve seen me have it. That’s fine with me as long as they’re doing what they love to do and they’re being positive, constructive people, not destructive. The gifts god has given them they have to use for the sake of good.

What is your favorite thing to do in your downtime?
I do my pilates, I take a lot of walks with my daughter. I watch a lot of movies with my son. We’re all into working out. I have been swimming with my son. My daughter likes to cook so I like to be in the kitchen with her. This weekend I’m going with my daughter to Louisiana for a small part in a big movie called The Big Valley with Jessica Lange and Sam Neil. She has scenes with everybody. I am very excited for her. She has been studying at the Strasberg academy since she was 13. I said, “Yes Cass, you can be an actress, but be the best actress you can possibly be. Don’t take it lightly. It is a craft and you must study it as you would to become a doctor.”

What are 3 things you couldn’t live without?
My tweezers, my Bible and my family. So funny I said tweezers first…

Accepting help from friends and family.

• What is your favorite thing to do alone?
I love a good book. An afternoon sitting cozy on the couch reading! What a luxury!

• Your favorite thing to do with your family?
My favorite thing to do with my family…go for a walk. Isabel and I take a walk and it is an adventure. We ooh and aahh over ants and leaves and flowers. When I was in Texas over Christmas we went for a walk with my Dad on his farm. We saw little kittens in the barn and snow and birds. These moments may seem like nothing fancy or interesting but they are my favorite. Just exploring outside with my daughter.

What do you wish you had more time for? Sleep.

When your children grow up, what do you hope they remember? That they had a wonderful, carefree, happy childhood filled with love and security.

What is your key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent? Making sure my family is first, second and third on my list. There is nothing as important to me as being a mom, wife, daughter, sister, etc… And when all of that is strong and in place, I feel like my career runs smoothly.

What is your favorite thing to do alone? Alone, I love a long hot shower or doing yoga with Mandy Ingber.

Your favorite thing to do with your family? With my family, pretty much whenever we are all together, I’m in heaven. Literally, we could be driving in the car and I’m happy.

3 items you can not live without… My family, face cream, nice sheets, and my iPod (I know, I know, I did four.)
