We’re not sure exactly when we fell for Taye Diggs. It was probably when we watched him effortlessly grace the Broadway stage as Benny in Rent. And since then, we have happily watched his successful career unfold. He’s one half of a triple-act power couple and he and his lovely wife, Idina Menzel have taken on their best role yet: parents. But what has really sold us lately on Taye is his brand new children’s book, Chocolate Me!.

“Having spent time in a predominantly white neighborhood, I was constantly asked why my skin was black, why my hair was kinky and so on.” says Taye. “I want children to appreciate their differences and celebrate them with a healthy self-esteem.” In his beautifully illustrated book, Taye does just that. The story is super sweet and so lovely and will make any child realize that no mater what their differences are, they should be celebrated.

We tip our hats to Taye, for not only entertaining us on stage and on the big screen, but for giving us a valuable lesson to teach our kids.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an inventor.

What do you wish you had more time for?
I wish had had much more time to read.

When your children grow up, what do you hope they remember?
I hope that Walker remembers his innocence.

What is your key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent?
That is something I am still always searching for.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?
My favorite thing to do alone is to remember.

Your favorite thing to do with your family?
We love to dance!

Jason Kent Bateman, an American television and film actor, got his start on the beloved television series, Little House on the Prairie at the tender age of 12. After appearing in several sitcoms in the 80’s and 90’s including Silver Spoons and The Hogan Family, he quickly established himself as a scene stealer with impeccable comic timing. Bateman then came to prominence for playing Michael Bluth on the widely heralded show, Arrested Development. This critically acclaimed show garnered him accolades and awards from a TV Land, a Golden Globe, to two Satellite Awards. He has since established himself in Hollywood by appearing in several films including The Kingdom, Juno, Hancock with Will Smith, & Up in the Air with George Clooney. This summer we will find him onscreen in two of the most promising comedies of the summer, The Change Up and Horrible Bosses, starring Collin Farrell and Jennifer Aniston.

We caught up with Jason one lazy Sunday afternoon during the 7th inning stretch of the Dodger Game to talk a little about life.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be an actor. My father never took me to the park to play catch or ride my bike, instead
we would visit little art houses where the latest Independent Film was playing and I would try my best to get through the film’s subtitles. It was our father/son time to bond. Every kid wants to impress their father so I started to get more involved with acting, once people started to tell me I might have actually be good at it, everything else came together.

What do you wish you had more time for?
I really don’t have any complaints in this area… My life is such that I am either working from dawn till dusk and have a list of things I wish I had more time for or I am not working and can fill a day of all the things I want to do and might not have time for when I am working.

When Francesca grows up, what do you hope she remembers?
I hope she remembers the last half hour of each day before she goes to sleep. Talking about the highlights of her day and cuddling up and reading books before bed.
I hope that as she gets older she will always be able to keep that feeling of trust with her, knowing she has a mother and father she can always run home to.

What is your key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent?
My wife Amanda allows me to satisfy my drive to work as hard as I do in my career. In saying that, I am able to be a more patient, loving father
with a surplus of good mood when I am with my daughter. As we all know being a parent takes a lot of compromise and having an amazing partner who
works as hard at it as I do makes the balancing act much more manageable.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?
Running every morning. I am able to think about what is ahead for the day and what was yesterday and what may
be. Just having that hour to myself to take stock and be with my thoughts.

What is your favorite thing to do with your family?
I love getting Francesca together with her cousins and hanging out on a Sunday afternoon, sorta like I am doing right now. Not having anywhere to be just
watching her be a kid and being able to be a participant and laugh at the wonder of childhood.

What are 3 items you can’t live without?
My daughter Francesca, my wife and my iPhone.

“The creativity in this room is astonishing,” said Angie Harmon clicking into the NYC Hidden Valley Ranch test kitchen in her Christian Louboutin booties straight from a Michael Kors fashion show. In typical Angie style she made everyone forget the glamour of her own life as she delved into pizza making with grade school children. Watching her develop instant bonds with the kids who were there with her to promote the “Love Your Veggies Campaign,” you could almost forget that she is an A-list celebrity at the top of everyone’s list. Her recent TNT show Rizolli and Isles was so popular it was renewed for a second season before the first season was hardly underway.

When asked about her involvement with the Hidden Valley Ranch project, intended to rectify the growing problem of kids low vegetable intake and increasingly questionable eating habits, she said, “when they asked me to introduce vegetables to these kids and make pizzas with them it was a no-brainer. I knew that I could come here and learn from these kids and these other moms as well. It wasn’t about being a hero and coming here and telling people what to do and how to do it, I wanted to learn. I mean I’ve got six little girls spending the night next Saturday night. We’re gonna do Hidden Valley Ranch pizzas.” Married to former New York Giants player Jason Sehorn, this fashionable mother of three, is a lovable mix of down home family values and a celebrity wow factor that she seems to carry so effortlessly.

We sized up Angie in our PINT SIZED interview:

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Probably a ballerina.

What do you wish you had more time for?
My family. It’s difficult coming here for even this. Jason and the girls dropped me off at the airport and I cried all the way there, all the way through security. But he was very sweet about it. He was like, “this is what we do, we just got to go with it. This is just a part of it.” And hey (motioning to all the kids around) I get to be around these little ones.

When your children grow up, what do you hope they’ll remember?
Dinners every night and how the house smelled like food or candles. And just that Mommy was a great Mommy and loved us and cared for us and was there for us.

What is your key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent?
Well, I think I can do it because of my husband. I really couldn’t have this life if I didn’t have Jason. He’s a really hands-on Dad and he’s really really fantastic with the girls. He gives me the understanding I need. I have enough guilt going on and he says, “sweetie, God make you an actress. Go act. Go be what He made you to be. “ It’s like that Nelson Mandela speech where he says who are you not to be everything you can be? Jason makes me feel better but I definitely couldn’t do it without him.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?
Probably go get a massage. I think you can relax faster.

So you are so busy you have to be efficient even when you relax?
Yes. I have to relax efficiently (laughing).

What are your favorite things to do with your family?
I love to watch movies with the girls. We’ll do a huge bowl of popcorn and sit and watch movies. I love dinnertime. It’s my favorite. I start cooking about 5 o’clock and the whole house smells good. They know that dinnertime is family time, every single night. No excuses. It’s my way of letting them know that they are part of a family.

What are 3 items you can’t live without?
As far as anything? Well, my phone. Um, let’s see…live without? Oh, you got me on that one. A good book and…I don’t know. I think when I’ve got it I’ll have to call you.

We all came to love Jenna Elfman when she enchanted us with the quirky and lovable Dharma from Dharma and Greg. A lot has changed since then, including Jenna’s becoming a mom and acting in some of our favorite prime time shows. Not to mention just wrapping the film Friends With Benefits co-starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. We caught up with Jenna while she has been producing her own adorable movies on her Flip camera for all the world to see.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Exactly what I am now.

What do you wish you had more time for?
Doing nothing.

When your children grow up, what do you hope they remember?
All the crazy fun we have in the house.

What is your key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent?
Effective time management.

What is your favorite thing to do alone?
Go for a walk.

Your favorite thing to do with your family?
Sing, dance and chase each other around the house.

What is your favorite video of your kids you have captured on your Flip?
Them playing and laughing and being funny around the house.

Why did you become involved in the Flip campaign?
Because I love Flip cameras and I appreciated their playful, non-serious approach to the entire campaign.

We didn’t think we could get any more excited about Baby Buggy‘s first collaboration with Target. That is until this week. We spoke to Jessica Seinfeld, who was thrilled to tell us about their second collection for Target designed by the lux West Coast baby boutique, Petit Tresor. Baby Buggy, Jessica’s non-profit charity (almost 10 years old!) provides NYC families in need with essential equipment for their new babies and young children. And now thanks to Target and their ongoing relationship, families nationwide can benefit from their efforts. 10% of all sales from this adorable, practical and affordable line will go to Baby Buggy.

As if that weren’t enough to keep Jessica busy these days, her second book, Double Delicious just hit bookshelves. It offers families recipes and hints to make their food healthier by cutting back on unnecessary added sodium, sugars and fats. A huge fan of spaghetti and meatballs for her own family “I just learned how to make fresh pasta from my friends grandmother and when I have the time, I love to do it and it’s really not that hard” to really utilizing leftovers “I am a big fan of making extra food to translate leftovers into more than one meal” makes us quite impressed with what Jessica is doing these days.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a veterinarian. My daughter told me the other day, she would like to be a waitress when she grows up. So that we can own a restaurant together. I can be the chef and she will serve the food.

What do you wish you had more time for?
Sleep.

When your children grow up, what do you hope they remember?
All the laughing and joking we did together as a family.

What is your key to balancing a successful career and being a successful parent?
I would have to say time management. Really finding windows of time where you can get things done efficiently. I definitely do not get a lot of sleep. I sacrifice my sleep to get more done. I wouldn’t recommend that, but that is what I do!

What is your favorite thing to do alone?
Exercise.

Your favorite thing to do with your family?
We love to eat. We are all obsessed with food, in a healthy way. Jerry will take the kids out for bagels and lox and will all in length discuss who has the best bagels. Jerry and I will do the same, we will rate it, break it down – we are crazy about it!

3 items you cannot live without…
My blackberry- as much as I am not proud of that, it allows me to easily arrange the kids schedules and is a great vehicle for spontaneous moments. Jerry will be on his way back from a trip, call me and I can have him then surprise my daughter and pick her up at school. And, my J Crew Black Silk pajamas and my favorite Japanese Chef’s knife.
