Sweet Surrender
Our top three cupcake havens in London

Some people think the cupcake craze of the naughties has had its hay day. Could be. Stateside that is. But, over here across the pond, we seem to be a little behind the times. Thank goodness. The cupcake centric bakeries just keep coming like mad. So many and so delish, it was hard to choose our favourite so here’s a list of our top three:
1. In first place is Primrose Bakery, located in the adorably quaint and celeb friendly Primrose Hill. You can’t walk by this place without being coaxed in by the wafts of dreaminess. All the desserts are amazing, but the cupcakes are a must, and we are huge fans of the 50’s formica decor. They also have sourced adorable vintage inspired baby announcement cards, invitations and little chackas you definitely don’t need, but can’t say no to. Apparently either can Helena Bonham Carter – we’ve seen her there twice.
2. Hummingbird – now with several London locations. The Magnolia of London, there’s always a line on the weekends at their Notting Hill flagship.
AND, last but certainly not least,
3. The Chelsea Teacup (402 King’s Road) – Similar in feel to Primrose Bakery, a lovely sweet treat and we especially love the mismatched old school china.
