ROCK THE BUMP
Transforming your pregnancy into the ultimate style statement

If you’ve been reading anything lately, chances are you’ve read one of the stellar reviews of BUMP IT UP. And there’s good reason why.
Amy Tara Koch has built her career on style and decided it was time to help others keep theirs, as their waistlines expanded. Her new book, a savior to pregnant women everywhere who wonder how to look chic without blowing their bank accounts is a must-read.
Sprinkled between her fashionable and hilariously funny words of wisdom are some amazing illustrations from her very stylish inner circle; Donna Karan, Nicole Miller and Diane Von Furstenberg to name a few. And, if that isn’t enough to make you want to read her book, check out some of our favorite tips from some of her A-List friends:
KATE SPADE, DESIGNER
At 5’1, pregnancy was a balancing act for me. My trick? I had a uniform and dressed around my bump. I love color. So I bought drawstring skirts from Calypso in every color from Calypso and wore them as tunic tops. I layered them with a cropped jacket or cardigan tightly cinched with a large Alexis Bittar (vintage looking) brooch. To streamline the volume on top, I wore cigarette pants on the bottom and heels. I topped it off with a cool animal print coat. I also wore a lightweight black jacket as a dress with colored tights. To keep the looks upbeat and fun, I accented them with big rings and flowers in my hair.
JEAN GODFREY-JUNE, BEAUTY DIRECTOR, LUCKY MAGAZINE
Self tanner is the ultimate pick me up. Use it strategically on face and body and it will nip the “you look tired” comment in the bud. Also-patting a facial oil over makeup any time during the day freshens the face and adds a dewiness. Oil has fewer additives than moisturizer.
FILIPA FINO, VOGUE ACCESSORIES EDITOR
Pregnancy is about super-accessorizing. 1. Don’t be afraid of happy colors and prints. 2. Invest in thin stretch cotton basics like tees and dresses. 3. Spanx underwear holds bellybutton in. 4. Have your tailor open up trouser seams at the side and put rubber bands in. You can have them removed later. 4. Think lean: Have six great basics to work with and punch them up: Underlay and overlay jewelry, belt a sleek cardigan under the bump, wear big bags. 5. Empire waist, shifts and A line dresses are silhouettes that flatter a pregnant body.
