Rosie Pope Maternity to launch MomPrep

Maintaining a sense of style (and sanity) during your pregnancy isn’t the easiest thing to do. But now, thanks to the oh-so-chic and ridiculously witty Rosie Pope, that is about to change.

Creating Rosie Pope Maternity, just under 2 years ago, Pope filled a large void in the otherwise mundane and dreaded maternity shopping experience. And now, thanks to her eye opening pregnancy and birth (to son James, 18 months) Pope is launching MomPrep, a “Prep School for Moms and Moms-To-Be” and we couldn’t be more excited.

Held in a luxurious and spa-like prenatal studio in NYC, MomPrep will offer a well-edited roster of classes taught by qualified nurses and experts. “Being pregnant should be a great experience. Everyone of my newly pregnant friends at first are so excited and then usually that excitement is followed by 9 months of complaints. MomPrep can help change that” Rosie says. “Women can come to a safe, loving environment learning about everything from CPR to Breastfeeding, helping them become the best mom they can be. There was nothing like that when I was pregnant and I believe there is so much value in the importance of a great class.”

For those not lucky enough to be in NYC, make sure to sign up for Rosie’s brutally honest and hilarious Morning Coffee, a weekly newsletter giving you a glimpse into her life. And here, Rosie has generously shared some of her own pregnancy tips with us:

  1. Always keep ginger chewy candies in your purse for those vomitatious moments.
  2. Attack your mother’s closet for chunky jewelry to adorn your sophisticated black outfit and detract from the extra poundage!
  3. Stay away from maternity brand jeans and look for your favorite pre-pregnancy label in a maternity style (most like Seven and James jeans have great maternity styles). Failing that, buy a bigger size in non-maternity jeans, cut the top off and sew in a piece of spandex (from an old bathing suit).
  4. Insist on a baby moon (last hurrah vacation with your hubby before the baby arrives), but make sure it has something for you to do other than hang out at the bar and watch him drink pina-coladas or watching him swing that golf club on yet another idyllic course! I suggest any resort with a spa that offers pre-natal massage would be a great start.
  5. Now this is annoying, but trust me you’ll be happy you did it…address all the envelopes for your birth announcements before you go into labor. That way you can just stuff and send when that babaganoush finally arrives. Believe me when I say you won’t be able to find the time to send them out otherwise.
