Jim Henson Legacy to win new award
In September, the James A. Michener Art Museum will present its first ever namesake Legacy Award to The Jim Henson Legacy. The Jim Henson Legacy was selected for the award in honor of its unwavering commitment to continuing the celebrated work of Jim Henson. “We see strong similarities between Jim Michener and Jim Henson; their bodies of work show great concern with humanity globally, they were very prolific, both were adventurers creatively ahead of their times, and each has had a profound impact on thousands of children and adults” said Bruce Katsiff, CEO and Director of the Museum. To celebrate the The Museum is hosting Jim Henson’s Fantastic World, a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution and The Jim Henson Legacy. The exhibit will be on view at the Museum from September 12 through November 29, 2009. Mark your calendars, online tickets go on sale August 1st and are rumored to sell-out.
