‘Sesame Street’ to co-host ‘Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader’

Sesame Street - 1

Next week will be one busy week for those who live on Sesame Street. They will be celebrating 40 years (yes, 40!) of sunny days and just everyone (and we mean everyone) is looking to get in on the action.

Our favorite of the festivities, kicks off Monday night, November 9th when some of the characters lend Jeff Foxworthy a furry hand by co-hosting “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader”.

Each day, for the full week, Foxworthy will have a new co-host. We spoke with Barry Poznick, Executive Producer of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” to get a little inside peek of what’s to come:

How did you decide to host the characters from Sesame Street on your show?
We wanted the stars of Sesame Street to co-host with Jeff because we all learned so much from them when we were growing up. So we wanted to honor them. And it made us seem cool to our kids. My 3 year old daughter Ava told me who she wanted to meet and that’s who we invited. My daughter, the producer!

Are the members of your family fans of the show?
Yes! One of my son Zeke’s first words was “Elmo”!

Were these the first characters to co-host the show?
Yes — and we hope to do it again– was so exciting. My daughter already requested Big Bird and Snuffalupagus, so we’ll probably need a bigger plane to fly them out!

What was your favorite part of working with such popular characters?
The behind the scenes team was fantastic — so fast and funny. It was really cool for Jeff and the 5th graders too — and we’ve had lots of stars on the show, from Brad Garett to Nick Lachey to Gene Simmons and I can honestly say, the Sesame Street characters drew the biggest demand from the crew to pose for pictures with them!
