THE ECO WARRIOR

Entourage Actor Adrian Grenier chats with us about his environmental efforts

We are just as excited as you for Sunday night’s Season Premiere of the HBO hit series Entourage. It has been nominated for a staggering number of Emmy awards and this season will not disappoint. Guest stars include the hip-hop artist Diddy, the musician Lenny Kravitz and the show’s executive producer Mark Wahlberg. There are even rumors that an Entourage movie is in the works.

The show’s star Adrian Grenier, is best known for playing the charmed, indulgent movie star Vince Chase. Behind the scenes however, Grenier is an entirely different person. His passion is coming up with innovative ways to change the way we treat the environment, making it a better place for our families to live in. Pretty impressive, right? We caught up with Grenier to chat about his most recent ecological endeavors.

Tell us about the site you have just launched?
It is SHFT.com. It is dedicated to curating the culture of today’s environment. The idea is really to show people that making small changes in their lives and business can move us towards a more ecologically sustainable life style.

What prompted this new venture?
My partner Peter Glatzer and I wanted create a website that would produce media content to show people how to shift their lifestyle choices in creative ways. It is not heavy handed, but a creative new approach.

What sort of charities do you like to promote?
I gravitate towards charities that deal with the root of problems. One example is the Charity: Water. They work to create renewable water resources and build wells in third world countries. I also believe in education initiatives. The core of our society is based on the education and cultivation of our youth.

Ok, we have to ask, do you have any plans for a family of your own?
Let’s just say that right now I am very focused on children through my involvement with forming a new charter school in Queens, New York. It is called the Artisan School. It is based on environmental principles. The idea is to provide education with purpose, to advocate imaginative thinking that the young can incorporate into their lives.

In essence what is your goal, with all of your eco-projects?
Essentially it is to try to create small shifts in perception that will allow us to achieve greater truths.
